2025 Junior Showcase Rules

Playing/Tournament Rules

  1. Each team is guaranteed four games. In the round robin, games consist of two 22-minute periods.
  2. All teams must have their game sheet filled out 15 minutes before their scheduled game time.
  3. A maximum of 20 players may be rostered and dressed for each game.
  4. Mercy Rule: Running time will begin during the last period if one team is ahead by 5 goals.
  5. Game Times: Teams must be ready to play 15 minutes before their scheduled game.
  6. There will be a 3-minute warm-up prior to each game.
  7. No team may enter the ice until the referees are ready.
  8. One 30-second timeout is allowed per team.
  9. Hockey Canada rules regarding misconducts, suspensions, and match penalties will be enforced.
  10. This tournament does NOT ALLOW HITTING.
  11. In case of a jersey color conflict, the home team has the right to choose their jersey color.
  12. The scoreboard will not display any additional goals once the goal spread exceeds 5.
  13. No player is permitted to participate in a playoff game unless they have played in at least one round robin game.

Playoff Overtime Rules

  1. Overtime will only occur in playoff games.
  2. A 5-minute overtime, 3-on-3, followed by a 3-player shootout if needed.

Tiebreaking Procedures (for teams tied in the standings)

  1. Winner of the game between two teams.
  2. Most wins.
  3. Best goal differential.

Scoring

  1. Regardless of the actual score, no team will be credited with more than a 5-goal differential.
  2. Points system:
    • Win = 2 points
    • Tie = 1 point
    • Loss = 0 points
